Best Time to Visit Morocco — Month by Month Guide

Morocco is a year-round destination, but the experience varies dramatically depending on when you go. The country spans the Atlantic coast, the Mediterranean, the High Atlas Mountains and the Sahara Desert — each with its own climate and best season. Here is our honest, experience-based guide from local experts.

Spring — March to May ✅ Best Season

Spring is the finest time to visit Morocco. Temperatures are warm but not hot (20–28°C in Marrakech, cooler in the mountains), wildflowers cover the High Atlas, the desert is comfortable and the Valley of Roses blooms in May around Kelaat M’Gouna. This is the peak of the tourist season for good reason. All our tours — desert, mountain and imperial cities — run beautifully in spring. Book early as this period fills fast.

Autumn — September to November ✅ Best Season

Autumn rivals spring as the best time to visit. Summer heat has broken, the skies are clear, the Sahara is cool enough for comfortable trekking and all the major sites are uncrowded. September is still warm in Marrakech (30°C+). November brings crisp mountain air and the date harvest in the Draa Valley. Ideal for all our desert tours and Atlas trekking tours.

Summer — June to August ⚠️ Hot but Manageable

Summer is the low season inland. Marrakech and the desert regularly exceed 40°C. The coast — Essaouira, Agadir, Tangier — is cooled by Atlantic breezes and is excellent. If you travel in summer, start your desert drives at dawn and rest through midday. All our tours operate year-round with adjusted daily schedules in summer.

Winter — December to February ✅ Excellent for Desert

Winter is the best time for the Sahara Desert — cool nights at the Berber camp, crisp clear mornings and dunes at their most photogenic. Marrakech is mild (15–20°C) and uncrowded. The High Atlas can receive snow from December, occasionally closing the Tizi n’Tichka pass temporarily. Our 3-Day, 4-Day and 5-Day desert tours are particularly popular in winter.
