What to See in Rabat

The Hassan Tower is Rabat’s most iconic landmark — an unfinished 12th-century minaret that would have been the tallest in the world had Sultan Yacoub al-Mansour not died before its completion. The Mausoleum of Mohammed V, clad entirely in white Italian marble, stands beside it. The Kasbah of the Udayas perches above the Bou Regreg river estuary — a neighbourhood of whitewashed walls, Andalusian gardens and extraordinary views. The Chellah necropolis, a Roman and medieval Islamic site on the city’s edge, is one of the most atmospheric places in all of Morocco.
