Founded in the 3rd century BC and occupied until the 11th century AD, Volubilis preserves extraordinary floor mosaics, a triumphal arch, the Forum, the Basilica, the Capitol and rows of column stumps stretching across the Moroccan plain. The mosaics — depicting Orpheus, Bacchus, athletic contests and marine life — are among the best preserved in North Africa.
