Explore the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis — Morocco’s most complete and spectacular archaeological site, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the finest Roman ruins in the entire Mediterranean world. Founded in the 3rd century BC and occupied until the 11th century AD, Volubilis preserves extraordinary floor mosaics, a triumphal arch, the Forum, the Basilica, the Capitol and rows of column stumps stretching across the Moroccan plain. The mosaics — depicting Orpheus, Bacchus, athletic contests and marine life — are among the best preserved in North Africa. Located just 30 minutes from Meknes and easily combined with a visit to the holy city of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun.
