Traditional Hammam

A traditional Moroccan hammam is one of the most restorative experiences the country offers — and a genuine part of daily life for Moroccan families. The ritual involves a progression through steam rooms of different temperatures, followed by a full-body scrub with Moroccan black soap (beldi), a ghassoul clay mask and a final rinse. In a genuine neighbourhood hammam, the experience costs a few dirhams and is completely authentic. Tourist hammams in Marrakech and Fès offer a more comfortable version with private rooms, argan oil massage and English-speaking staff.
